the past few days have been excellent. i'm totally getting into the holiday groove! been ponning a lot, which explains my early day home today. but yeah, the 4 day long weekend is so therapeutic. the bright cheery sun, though scorching, makes everything seem so much happier. you just feel like shouting out loud and jumping for joy. its excellent :)
now, i shall attempt to catch up on my posts before the real holidays start when i'd be happily flying away from singapore! not to say tt i've not been enjoying myself here, cuz i have been. more so recently for sure.
so this dinner was at Ma Maison's at clarke quay. was for alwyn's bday. boy, it was a torture navigating the roads. kat was so traumatized sitting in my car i think. lol. didn't help he was having a tummyache already (before meeting me of course!!)
the place has really interesting decor, though i didn't quite take tt many photos.
the food is a mix of japanese and western, some sort of fusion food. well, i chose tt cuz the bday boy was being silly, wanting jap, but not being able to commit (typical), changing his mind to western and goodness knows what. so fusion, i decided was the way to go! haha.
so this was my steak patty. it was good, the patty was tender and the JUICY! and there are 2 types of beef (i think), cuz there was some sort of minced pieces of beef sprinkled around the patty. absolutely tasty :Dthis was another beef dish, with butter rice in an omelette.
the butter rice inside was really yummy, and the beef was not bad as well!
this was what kat ordered since he wanted none of the heavy stuff for his poor churning tummy. i didn't get to try it though..
and the greediest person ordered what looked like the most filling dish. i hate pork chop, and i hate fried pork chop even more. haha. so nope, i didn't try it.
the sauces tt came with it though, looked quite appetizing. and there was mustard!!

yup, so tt dinner was eons ago, and so much has happened since, but since the other photos are still on my camera, i shall just proceed to those taken with my phone. this was dinner at Da Paolo. i had squid ink pasta with king prawns. and i must say, the food there has never disappointed. the pasta is done just right (al dente if u insist on saying it), and the prawn juices just seep into the pasta, infusing them with a delightful taste. the prawns themselves were springy and wholesome. the ink from the pasta doesn't run! more than what i can say about quite a few places, and its not very costly either!
i didn't take pictures of my parents' meals, they didn't look as impressive. haha. but my dessert was quite unique. its whipped and warmed egg yolks, served with some chopped fruits in a glass. the mixture produces quite a interesting taste, something i can't quite describe. its something sweet, yet you know how proteins can't really be sweet. and then with the fruits thrown in. haha. yup.
and then, on veska day. i travelled all the way to yio chu kang for tennis, and the sun was just scorching. as shi was commenting, are we playing on glass? the court is so shiny and fast. the heat just saps away any energy you have man. but its quite interesting play on such fast courts, and i would love to go back another day, when its less hot of course and see how i fare on them.. ;)
we had our lunch at this place called Naked Fish (Sth). its actually a halal place, and we only got there after much bek chek-ing. tsktsk. sigh. shi settled on a stingray, whilst i shared a Mediterranean sth with gary. it was quite worth it and it had a wide variety of items. there were prawns, mussels, scallops, dory, the pregnant fish, some other stuff and butter rice topped with a huge dollop of melted cheese. mmm.last few photos for today! this was taken at a lunch i had at this nice little cafe called The Coffee Showcase at East Coast Road. its really value for money. a drink + cake + soup and a main course, all for the price of food + $3.50. ok, i actually topped up to get this drink. but still, damn cheap, think it was about $12 without the drink!
this is the chocolate banana milkshake. can taste the real bananas and i love the generous dollop of cream. haha. the other drinks look really good as well :D and its a lot of drink.oh, i didn't take a picture of the soup, but it was corn soup. normal-ish, which is good cuz soup tt comes with set lunches can be real awful. so this was my main course which i was so glad to have. mutton chops. 3 huge mutton chops for 8.70 with really nice wedges. the mutton chops are not those lousy skinny bony anorexic sort, but really chunky and meaty ones, with the thin silver of fats. fantastic!
and my cake was the lychee martini cake. quite creamy (which i like), with bits of lychee in all the layers of cream. it tasted very good. and i must say, i was really impressed with the whole meal. value for money and good. with good service as well.
the steak was not bad as well, and it was quite huge. too bad i didn't get a photo of it. but they didn't have the hazelnut crunch cake, which is supposed to be really good. but definitely, i'd return to try it one day.. :)
